“True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist.“ - Albert Einstein.
Enikő is a visual creator, living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She elaborates her topics with momentum and rich surfaces. Her complex process combines oil paint and cold wax. Rectangular textures connect abstract with realism in an expressionistic way. Bold colors float around the canvas. Several layers applied with different techniques, consistency and contents for the sake of contrast, texture or transparency. Textures result in the process left to chance where surface defines shadows and highlights. Her paintings present a balance of organic and geometric visual effects.
Enikő was born in Toronto, but began her studies in painting and life drawing in Hungary at the Pecs Arts High School. She got her bachelor degree at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Her formal training is rooted in fine arts. She has also received traditional training in photography, graphic design and traditional graphic art techniques. Enikő was mentored by renowned Hungarian artist Endre Szasz.
Her work is influenced by her memories in Europe. She took several road trips across the US to soak up freedom and ideas. Enikő is an emerging creator of ideas.
''I love to paint and inspire. I am going crazy if I can’t do anything creative for a while. There's a lot in juggling with tools, manipulating textures and breathing odor of paints. I was in first grade when an artist was invited to our school where he had an exhibition. He asked us who wanted to become an artist. To my own surprise I raised my hand subconsciously. Perhaps, I understand a little bit more the force that raised my hand and kept me pursuing those images in my head I yet to paint. Henri Matisse once said that creativity takes courage. That force and those images must have caused my life adventurous. It also made my life a living proof of art being therapeutic since it saved me at one point. I am attracted to infinite possibilities of textures. My influences range from Jay Defeo to Riopelle. Artists I admire include Egon Schiele, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec…''
